VOLCANIC CAVES AND HANDICRAFTS

Located in the slopes of Villarrica Volcano 12 km of Pucón, the Volcanic Caves visit are an interest and exciting sensation to going into one of the two volcanic caves around the wold opened to visitors. They were made naturally after numerous eruptions of the Villarrica volcano and invite us to descent 300 meters to observe their geological constitution. The caves are completely lighted. The walking inside takes about one hour with an expert guide. Finally we will visit a small handicrafts village where we appreciate the abilities of men and women to carve in wood.

Located in the slopes of Villarrica Volcano 12 Km. of Pucón, this visit is an interest and exciting experience, since you will enter one of the two volcanic caves opened to visitors all over the world. They were formed naturally after numerous eruptions of the Villarrica Volcano. During the visit, you’ll descent 300 meters to observe their geological constitution. The caves are completely enlighten. The guided tour takes about one hour with an expert guide.

After the tour, we will visit the ski Center.

CABURGA AND HUIFE HOT SPRINGS

Visit to “Ojos del Caburga” wonderful waterfalls, which are feeded by deep underground waters coming from the Caburga Lake. Then we will go into the mountain chain of the Araucania region that is privileged by its volcanoes. Their high level of volcanic activity produces a large number of thermal springs, which rise from deep underground and are surrounding with abundant vegetation.

Huife hot spring located 33 km east of Pucón set on the banks of the Liucura River.

There are three swimming pools with thermal waters and private bath, their waters are between 38° and 58° C, rich in minerals. Services available include lymphatic massage, relaxing massages and reflexology. The Spa is open all year, although occasionally snows in winter.

Visit the most impressive water falls of zone: “Palguin”, “La China” and “El León” water falls located surrounding the National Park Villarrica, one of the most beautiful in this zone. Then we will visit Ojos del Caburga and Caburga Lake of volcanic origin and the blue lagoon. We will come back to Pucón bordering the Liucura river from where we could appreciate Quetrupillan, Villarrica and Lanin volcanoes. Finally we cross the hanging bridge Quelhue.

HUERQUEHUE NATIONAL PARK TREKKING

Season : spring, autumn, and summer.

Requirement : level of difficulty medium, suitable for person in good physical conditions.

Huerquehue is located 35 km from Pucón, (Caburga – Paillaco) it has a surface of 12.500 ha. Its climate is temper-warm, with less than 4 months dry and an ice climate caused by the altitude. The park has areas of camping, picnic and information center. This beautiful mountainous park where hills and gullies confine lakes and streams of pure waters, like the Tinquilco Lake. Araucarias, lenga, mañio and michay are the most common vegetation. The fauna includes condors, culpeo foxes, bufo variegatus frogs, Darwin’s frog and chucao. The most beautiful scenery is seen at the Laguna Verde and Toro, the Renahue river ravine, and the Quincol and Araucano hill. From the park is it possible to observe wonderful landscape.

LOWER RIVER RAFTING (grade II y III)

Season : all year around, depending on the weather Condition.

At 10 minutes by car is located the start point of rafting by the Trancura River. There you will received the appropriate equipment before the beginning of the adventure. Recommend for older than 12 years, with the company of an expert guide who will give you the basic rules to dominate the oar and raft.

UPPER RIVER RAFTING (grade IV)

Season : all year around, depending on the weather conditions.

At 14 km east of Pucón is located the start point of this refreshing and exciting adventure This Rafting begins in the upper part of Trancura River with its clear and crystalline waters coming from Quillelhue Lagoon. This activity is recommended for older than 14 years. It is ideal for the most adventurers, who must face great waterfalls and abundant rapids. For your security you will have the company of a kayak during all the way.

HORSERIDING IN HUIFQUENCO RANCH

An entertaining and educational carriage or horseback riding visiting our country-side traditions, in one of the most beautiful ranches of the Lake District. You will be able to experience in a visit around the pastures and the prairies, the agricultural and cattle breeding, labors of a typical farm in the south of Chile. Along the way we will see guinea hens, young bulls, horses and their stables, in the “media Luna” rodeo the reins movement, knockings from the saddle and horse taming. Continuing with the ride we will pass by the wild boar’s forest, then through the beautiful lagoon where fishing lessons are given, finally we visit the Voipir River known for it beauty and the Kayak practice.

Before returning we pass through the overlooking point where you can see a beautiful view of the Villarrica Volcano, lake and City that presents itself as the postcard that everyone wants to take home.

This is an entertaining and educational carriage or horseback ride visiting one of the most beautiful ranches of the Lakes District. You will be able to experience a marvelous visit around the pastures and the prairies, take part of the agricultural tasks and cattle breeding, and labour of a typical farm in the south of Chile.

After a wonderful horse or cart ride, we’ll enjoy a delicious typical Chilean lunch: “Asado al Palo”, a sort of barbecue, starting with an aperitif, an special salad that is called “pebre” accompanied by home-baked bread, main course, 2 types of salad, dessert at choice, coffee, home cookies and an after – dinner liqueur.

SNOWSHOES TRIP

Season : Winter, depending on weather conditions.

Includes : Mountain Guide, equipment, mountain boots, snowshoes, ski stricks,

This trip goes over the slopes of the Villarrica Volcano, in the Villarrica National Park, at 14km south of Pucón.

We will get on virgin snow áreas with our snowshoes with are easy to use and entertaining, beetween 1.000 and 1.300 m height.

We will cross Coigüe forests, Lenga forest and lava fields covered with snow. Wild fauna may be observed in those parts of the trip.

Then we will go up to the highest point of our excursion where we will have a spectacular vieu of the Villarrica Lake and some of the majestics volcanoes of the Araucaria region.

VILLARRICA VOLCANO CLIMBING

Transfer from your hotel to the ski center, from here we will begin this adventure, with all the necessary equipment and of course with a professional guide. A zigzag walking to the crater of Villarrica Volcano, 2.847 m. From the top you could appreciate the most beautiful view of valley and many lakes of the zone. It is possible to do this activity during all the year according to climatic conditions.

MENETÚE HOT SPRING

Season : All year around

Located at 32 Kms east of Pucón, by the international road to Curarrehue, Menetúe hot springs offer two outdoors swimming pools and two covered pools, and they also have private thermal baths. The water temperature varies between 38º C to 44º C.

It has a nice restaurant. The hot springs are inserted on the thermal park of Menetúe with 40 ha. Of natural beuty. It is open all the year.

CANOPY AVENTURA IN PUCON

Season : All year around

Minimum : 2 people and 12 maximum.

Requirement : Medium grade of difficulty, for older than 12 years.

The setting for this intense adventure is an island on the Trancura River, where you will fly among centenary oaks, coihues, ulmos, cinnamon trees and copihues. The whole circuit takes around one and a half hours without ever touching ground from the beginning till the end of the trip. The challenge is facing 10 cable lines with lengths varying from 40 to 140 mts, and heights up to 25 mts, designed to reach a speed ranging between 30 and 60 km/hr. We provide you with the equipment (harness, carabineers, tubular tapes, tandem speed, gloves and glove protections, safety helmet and protective glasses), transportation and guides. You must wear running shoes or trekking shoes and sport clothes. It is very important to keep in mind not to wear ring, big neckless, earings or watch, etc) As well as tie up your hair if it is long.

ETHNIC ROUTE IN THE AREA

At 40 kms. east of Pucón by the International road, we find the rural and border community of Curarrehue and also “ Aldea Intercultural Trawe – Peyun” which means “ where we meet”. There is a cultural centre with a collection of photographs taken between 1860 and 1930, as well as a variety of objects under the care of local artisans. After this interesting visit, on the way back, we will stop at the Kilaleufu farm. Here lives a Mapuche family whom will invite us to share their work, life and customs traditions and enter in their “ruca” the typical Mapuche´s house, and taste Mapuche typical food.
